Preventative Care
The best way to keep your smile looking and feeling good is to stay up to date with your preventative care. This includes regular cleanings, as well as x-rays and exams to screen for cavities and oral cancer. If it’s been a while, or your genetics predispose you to a higher chance of cavities, you might need a deeper clean or more frequent hygiene appointments and we can help you determine this when you come in. Hopefully, you’re already on our schedule but if not, the best time to schedule your next cleaning is now!
Oral Exam
An important part of regular care is your bi-annual exam with Dr. LeCroy. She will screen your throat and mouth for oral cancer. Then she’ll inspect your teeth for signs of decay by reviewing your annual x-rays and completing a visual inspection of your teeth so that she can recommend any necessary treatment.
Cleaning
Even if you brush and floss daily, plaque can accumulate. Keeping up with your regular cleanings will give our hygienists a chance to remove any build-up and ensure your mouth stays healthy. Most patients should plan to come in every six months for their cleanings, but some may prefer every four months, or even every three.
Deep Cleaning
Sometimes life happens … if it’s been a while since your last visit, you may be in need of a deeper clean. Depending on the level of cleaning needed, we may schedule this over several visits to address different areas of the mouth. Our hygienists can help you determine your best next steps when you come in.
Fluoride & Sealants
Fluoride is a mineral that helps strengthen teeth and prevent cavities. We recommend pairing regular cleanings with a fluoride treatment for our younger patients. In the event that one or more teeth need a more robust barrier, we can apply a sealant, which is a thin, protective coating that will sit on the surface of a tooth to prevent decay.
